ladies night!

we'll, just call today "ladies night". so, keeping with the theme... i'll throw you some new 'ish! now, most of the women that read this are college women or recent college grade that are still payin on their student loans... but, they LOVE fashion (as you should). well, i know only a hand full can actually afford the new Loubies... so I won't even mention the Red Bottoms again... but I do have an alternative... if you wanna be just a fly, just scoot on over to www.aldoshoes.com (which is one of my FAVORITE SITES, since we don't have an Aldo around here) and check out their new spring/summer '09 line... here are a few of the new heels that I personally wouldn't mind seeing a woman in....

i've come to find out that quite a few women read my blog... i wouldn't dare call them "fans" though... i don't think i have any fans... just "readers"... and i know women (or at least i think i do) well, i know that women love clothes... and the women i know (especially wifey) LOVE Forever 21... well, they FINALLY got hip and dropped a plus sized line... i don't like to call it plus sized... we'll just call it... hmm... healthy? nah... ummm... thick? nah.... well, forget it, i can't come up with any thing. i dig women with a lil meat... really... i do! the clothes may actually be kinda decent... i'm not that good at shopping for women... ladies, do you like?

Let's get serious...

I was prompted today to write a post about "real life issues" and the conversation that I had led to the subject (or the broad topic) of single parents. Now, I heard a conversation the other day that went a little something like this:
Black male:I love to see happy black families
White male:Yeah, me too, but there aren't many of them.
Black male:You're right.

Now, should I, as a black male, have gotten offended.... at the truth?! Well, I think (& have not done any research) that the number of single family homes in other communities may be just as high as the number of single family homes in the black community. I think that there are a few variables that so far offset the single black families. It's been seen that single white mothers/fathers tend to re-marry more than single black mothers/fathers.... or tend to get married (if they have not already been married before). Also, due to the high teen pregnancy rate in the black community, single black parents tend not to be as.... I hate to say smart but we'll use "educated" as single white parents, Thus, they lack to resources needed to find the higher paying jobs, thus lacking the funds to care for the child alone.... can you see where I'm going with this. It's a domino effect! Also, more than likely a single white mother has both parents in the picture. Where, on the onther hand, a single black mother is more than likely the product of... well, a single parent.

There are a few things that I absolutely despise:
1.a man that doesn't take care of his kids. (mine are VERY WELL taken care of). No matter what your situation with the mother... don't let that keep you from doing what you have to do to maintain a healthy relationship with your child. My daughter will be 4 next month & I haven't had a conversation with her mother in probably 2 years but, I promise that my daughter sees her daddy, knows who I am, and knows that she is well taken care of. She wants for absolutely NOTHING! Dont' get me wrong, it's not about the money or buying expensive clothes or shoes... it's about TIME!

2.Keeping in tune with the money thing, I hate to see a man/woman with the nicest, lastest fashions... and your child looks thrown away. Like I said... it's not about the money but, your kids come FIRST! If you have $165 to spend on Jordans... you should have money to have your kids looking decent! Or, opt for the less expensive (but equally fashinonable) Air Force 1's and buy your sond/daughter a decend pair of shoes. I dress nice... & so do my kids! once you start seeing by children looking a HOT MESS.... something is wrong. I'm a Regular at Children's Place, Gymboree and GAP Kids... please believe me!


Please don't think I'm telling you how to raise your kids. But, I am SUGGESTING that we, as a whole, get a better grib on reality. We must realize that children have a 70% better change of graduating high school with a male and a female both present in the home. I'll assume that my thoughts/opinions come from my up-bringing. My parents have been happily married for 30 years (will be 31 years next month). So, I had an example to follow. If you didn't have the same... you should want the same for your kids. I applaud all single mothers and single fathers that are doing it on their own! Just know that the cycle must be broken. WE MUST DO BETTER!

a few days ago i made a comment about mingling with celebs... then i retracted and said that i mingle with future celebs. well, yesterday while cooling at an undisclosed location with my boy, i hear a voice yell out "man, i've been trying to call your phone all day! i got lost on the way over here and needed directions" when i look left, it's none other than.... u ready?.... Bushwick Bill! yeah, Bushwick Bill from the Geto Boyz! This dude is a rap LEGEND! without the Geto Boyz, there would be no, Jeezy or T.I.! these dudes pretty much paved the way for EVERY rapper in the south. that's why they are so respected in the game. well, honestly i was too shame to ask for a picture (for proof to the non-believers) but, i wasn't ashamed to ask for an interview (mainly because www.TheRoyalWord.com was on the computer screen when he walked in the room and he asked "what's that"). he politely agreed and jokingly said "for a small fee". i think he was kinda thrilled when my phone rang and the first three seconds of my ringtone were "this year haloween fell on a weekend, me and geto boyz when trick or treatin" but after about a fifth of cognac and 3 hours of kicking it with one of the REALEST dudes i've ever met, he threw a mini concert after we pulled up a few old videos on YouTube.... so, The Royal Word pays homage to Bushwick Bill.... interview coming soon!

i'm back in FULL effect again people!! they can't stop me... even if they stopped me! lol, i had to get my wayne on for a minute. check this out: my freshman year in college at Mississippi Valley State University (big ups to all the Delta Devils), there was this cool cat that lived next door to me in Mississippi hall (big ups to Mr Rucker) named _____________ (i won't put his government name out there like that). but anyway, he always had a real nack for music... i mean the cat would listen to music ALL day... & sometimes ALL night... didn't bother me too much tho. anyway, i figured he just had to like music... well apparently all that listening has paid off! now known as "Sky Turner" (the rebirth of Ike Turner) my dude is doing it big on the music scene. his newest single "Drop" is a definite club BANGER! for real, DJ's pumps this, ladies dance to it, fellas.... just watch the ladies dance to it (you might get clowned for "dropping" it too low). the video is a good look too kid... big ups to my boy ________________!
